Dane-

Did you even say Wills stand up on that last wave in Indo? He was behind the section with no hope of getting around it and from where you were I doubt you could have even seen him stand up. It was interesting, when you first stood up and started going down the line, one announcer  said "no I don't think the judges are going to give that one to Willsy..."  and the other announcer agreed. The ASP needs to alter the rule book to prohibit these sorts of injustices.

Hang in there...win Lowers.

Unreal wave! If you have a Fantasy Surfer team, check out THE NEWS clubhouse and there is an entire article about it.

Well, no, i didn't see him back there. I looked back and didn't see him so i went. I didn't know the rule anyways so it was sort of my fault, but it is a stupid rule. In my opinion priority should be used for getting yourself the best waves, not blocking your opponent. It's just an outdated rule that needs to change. I got that last wave and was all stoked thinking i got the score, then when i climbed the cliff i learned of the interference. I was bummed, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Thanks for the kind words though!

Hey, at least you went down swinging. That was an awesome ride and it would have won the heat if Willsy wouldn't have been fighting dirty. He had no chance of making that wave.

Oh well, life goes on and kill them at Lowers.

PS: Thanks for doing the tour, so we get to see more of the sickest surfer on the planet.

I cared...I like to see the best surfers advance and not lose on technicalities.

But my point was that the rules should be changed so that judges can make a call as to whether or not to score the ride - not just give an automatic zero to the rider (Dane in this case). The rule does NOT make sense. Dane taking off in no way effected Wills riding of the wave...judges should be allowed discretion in that situation.

Bottom line is, the rule book needs to be changed.

Dude, who even cares. That looked like a ride of a lifetime. With dying seconds on the clock, even if he let Wills get that wave and he took the next, it wouldn't have been that wave! The rules may suck, but they make sense. Sometimes you take off on what seems to be an impossible section and those turn into 9s and 10s (if you pull it off). I'm just glad the rules didn't hold Dane back on getting the best ride of Round 2.
