Sick of Slater Winning?

Disclaimer;  Slater is one of my favorite surfers. Best of all time, close to 40 and still dominating,  etc, etc, so on and so forth. But...

...are you sick of him winning? I am. I felt for Taj who lost to him in the final and trestles. He could not have done anything more. Slater IS a freak. But are people sick of it? Is it bad for the sport?

Do the judges, judge him differently? favourably?

Dramatic questions sure, but someone has to ask them -well it makes no difference, but ahh.....yeah.

PS. congrats Dane on making the quarters. Word.

Man, I'd love to know Slater or Dane's surf training routine. Can anyone help?

Hey guy's i think kelly is not better judged by judges. At the moment he is just the best contest surfer alive.

But maybe you guys watched the trestles video on dane's page... For me dane is at the moment the best surfer alive and please dane don't change you surfing just because of winning contests. I think you could easily but who can do those sick airs or manouvers under pressure, in contests ?? nobody just dane, your amazing buddy!!!

Rock on!!!!

yeah but do ya reckon the judges pens have a bit more weight behind them, when slater surfs? for bad reasons maybe?

for sure, he's amazing, but there are others on tour (like Taj in trestles final) that surf amazing as well. Is the judging consistent?

I never get tired of Slater winning especially the way that he wins. The person who surfs the best is supposed to win and that is what is happening, except for Dane, he lost because of a wave starved heat, but nonetheless Kelly has been ripping and I am still amazed heat after heat. Watching Slater and Dane surf just inspires me to go out and surf and surf better at that. I am happy that Slater is ripping it, and I hope that he doesnt retire until someone beats him straight up preferably Dane.
Also if you heard the surfers when they got interviewed after their heat, they said that they want to surf against Slater, they want to beat the best.

Good post. I for one am not sick of him winning. If he surfed safe and boring I would be, but his surfing is in my opinion better than ever - at 36 nonetheless. Outside of Australia, I think most people dig him winning and I think his presence on tour draws more interest, particularly among casual fans, than there otherwise would be. I wouldn't be surprised to see webcast ratings decline once he retires.
Although I do feel bad for Andy, Parko and Mick who are in their prime and are being denied titles (expect Mick last year and Andy 4 years ago)because Slater is still around. Joel especially; he's such an amazing surfer and it doesn't seem right for him to not get at least one title. Dane and Jordy will be fine though as they're younger and Kelly will be long gone when they're in their prime.
