Speedy Recovery

I was meant to fly out to Fiji last night for the next WCT event that starts tomorrow. Instead I'm stuck at home nursing some kind of illness that nobody can say what it is. It started 2 days ago with some serious chest pain and something restricting my breathing. I went to urgent care and they did an EKG and a chest x-ray. They sent me to the emergency room where they did more of the same, along with some blood tests. At about 3 AM I was discharged without an answer.

Yesterday I was bedridden with some bad flu like symptoms. My brain felt like it was in a deep frier, aches, pain, still some trouble breathing. Hot and cold flashes. Anyways, The point is is that I'm missing the first round in Fiji due to this illness, but if my health improves I'll fly out tomorrow night and try and catch the second round. So basically, if I'm on your fantasy surfer team, pull me off. Trade me for adriano or something.

Gutted for you man - rookie season going pretty well so far and this is the last thing you need!

I am a 3rd year medical student and based on your initial chest symptoms and breathing problems then progressing into a full body illness with high fever, aches and breathing problems. We would most likely diagnose this as septicemia (a blood infection). This type of thing can happen from surfing in polluted water and bacteria getting into your blood by a break in your skin. Possibly a cut you suffered at Chopes? I'm assuming the doctors have put you on IV Vanco or linezolid or something of that nature, correct? You have been on my fantasy surf team since the first contest and it really sucked having to drop you for this lol. Feel better man, you will be shredding in no time

I've been sick for a week and a half now, similar symtoms and I just got some anti-biotics for a lung infection. I know about 10 other people with real nasty colds that have turned into infections recently. It's the wrong time of year for that stuff, What's up?
If your immune system is as good as your surfing you'll whip right out of it. Best of luck!
